All treatment at hospitals must be documented in a patient record. As a patient, you have the right to access your record. You also have the right to know who has accessed your record.
On helsenorge.no, you as a patient in Helse Nord can log in and view your patient journal online.

This is what you will find in your digital journal
- Journal documents dated after 21 September 2015 will be displayed from Finnmark Hospital, Nordland Hospital, and Helgeland Hospital.
- The University Hospital of North Norway shows documents dated after 10 October 2014.
- If you have not been a patient after these dates, no documents from your hospital journal will be displayed.
What will you not see in the digital patient journal?
There may be several reasons why not all information is digitally available to you:
- The document is in a format we cannot display. This includes, among other things, X-rays, certain test results, and birth records.
- The document has not been approved (signed) by the healthcare provider.
- The healthcare provider has not approved the journal note because they are waiting for test results or wish to discuss what is written there with you.
- Some documents cannot be displayed for legal or professional reasons, such as results from psychological tests or forensic psychiatric documents.
- Certain information may be withheld from you by a doctor or healthcare provider.
- You will also not find records from your general practitioner, dentist, or other healthcare providers.
Request access on paper or CD
If you do not wish to use the digital service, you can still request to have your patient journal sent to you by post on paper or CD.

Your rights regarding the sharing of health information
When healthcare personnel have access to important health information about you, they can provide you with safe and effective treatment. Only those who can document a need are allowed to read your information. If there is information you do not wish to share, you can change your privacy settings on Helsenorge.
