Our hospital in Tromsø

UNN Tromsø is located in Breivika, about 4 kilometers north of the city centre in Tromsø. The hospital serves as university hospital for Northern Norway as well as a regional and local hospital.

Getting there

If you arrive by bus from the city or from Langnes airport, the bus stop is outside the original main entrance. You will enter the building in wing A, floor 6 (A6). When you continue into the hospital you will come to wing B, C, and D.

If you arrive by car, you can park on the north side of the hospital. There are road signs leading to the parking areas. Remember to pay the parking fee.

By Bus

If you are coming to Breivika from Tromsø city centre, the easiest option is to take bus number 20 or 21 from Fredrik Langes gate. This bus journey takes approximately 15 minutes.

When you enter through the main entrance from the bus stop, you will be in wing A, level 6. The reception is located to your right.

Are you coming from Narvik?

The Health Express runs from Narvik to Tromsø. Individuals who have been referred for travel due to health reasons can use the Health Express.

Otherwise, there is a regular bus service. Take regional bus 100. It is recommended to use the journey planner for Troms County Traffic (Svipper). 

Are you arriving by express boat?

There is a bus from the harbour terminal. Bus number 21 departs at approximately 10:18.

From the Airport

It is recommended to use the journey planner for Troms County Traffic (Svipper). Search for Tromsø Airport and UNN to receive travel suggestions.

If you are travelling from Tromsø, it is easiest to purchase a ticket via Svipper.

By Taxi

You can also take a taxi if you have arranged this with Patient Travel. The taxi stops outside the main entrance.

By Private Car

Patients and relatives should use the main entrance. Parking is available above the hospital or directly north of the clinical PET centre (green building).

Patient Travel

If you have received treatment, you can apply for financial support for your journey. If you require arranged transport to attend treatment, you may be entitled to a requisitioned travel.

We have several guest parking areas near the hospital.

The parking by the emergency clinic is for emergency patients, those in labour, and those attending mammography.

Due to environmental considerations, high traffic volume, and limited parking spaces, we recommend using public transport where possible.

Parking Charges:

07:00-21:00: 32 NOK per hour

21:00-07:00: 7 NOK per hour

Long-term guest parking:

To achieve this price, payment/reservation must be made at the parking machine.

Maximum daily charge 250 NOK

Price from the 4th day onwards maximum 162 NOK.

Price from the 8th day onwards maximum 113 NOK.

Parking for disabled individuals is free both in reserved disabled spaces and in regular guest parking spaces.

App

Apcoa Flow is the app that should be used. Available in the App Store and Google Play Store. The Easy Park app can be used, but it incurs a 15% surcharge on the fee.

Motorcycles

UNN currently does not have designated parking for motorcycles for visitors or guests.

Bicycle Parking:

Visitors can use all bicycle parking around the hospital. If you want parking near the main entrance, it is most practical to use:

  • spaces on the bicycle rack between the clinical PET centre (green building)  and the university
  • the bicycle shed just north of the clinical PET centre (green building).

The hospital café Evert is located in wing C, level 3. You can also go to wing D and take the lift to level 3. The hospital café Evert is open for both patients and staff from 9 am to 3 pm. There you can purchase hot and cold food and drinks. The café has plenty of seating.

At the main entrance in wing A, level 6, there is a Narvesen kiosk. Turn right when you enter the main entrance, or left in the vestibule if you are coming from one of the departments.

In the kiosk, you can purchase simple kiosk food, drinks, and reading material. The kiosk also offers betting.
